RNS510 swapover

Hi,
I am thinking about trading in my September'08 CC for December'10 (MY11) version. Very similar specs, but my current car has the RNS510; the newer car has the standard spec (?) RNS315. The dealer says they can swap the RNS510 out of the old car into the new one for a 'nominal fee'.
My question is...would this work...will the unit need a firmware upgrade to work in the newer car ? What would a firmare upgrade give me - ie is it worth asking for one anyway ?

Not sure about the firmware upgrades there is loads of information about them on uk-mkivs.net, one thing they will give you I think is voice control. If you had bluetooth in your 2008 they will have to swap that too since the 510 uses an external bluetooth module whereas the 310/315 has the bluetooth built into the headunit. The real problem is going to be for your old car because it might need a CANBUS controller upgrade to support the newer stereo to avoid a battery drain issue, but I don't suppose you care about that ;)
