Hi,

Can anyone help with this problem. I connected my Ross-Tech VCDS in order to check for fault codes. It seems that after disconnecting, i have rough idling along with a rattling noise??!! Can the fuel mapping, or Injection timing be altered purely by connection?

The noise stops if the engine revs are increased, but is there on start-up and idle.

There was no noise before I conneted, and no faults were logged! None of the settings were changed or even viewed. Now I'm confused!

Can anyone with a clue shed some light on it? Thanks in advance.

It helps if you post an autoscan and give details of make/model/engine/yesr etc. No VCDS cannot cause changes to occur...You have to make them.

Sometimes clearing codes can make an engine in limp mode run rough, did you clear any codes?

Hi guys, cheers for your replies.

Audi A4 Avant 1.9tdi 2004 Multitronic

I cleared the following codes. I didnt know that the trans faults could have an impact on the running of the engine. There were no engine faults logged, only the 2 transmission ones below.
It is occasionally in limp mode, but for the G/Box ECU fault. I have the occasional flashing PRNDS block. I plan to remove the ECU? (Magic Box) and send it away for repair. Any advice on that too would also be great.

Thanks again.

You need a new gearbox ECU.
