Hood Strut

My Golf Plus doesn't have this hood strut, you have to secure the hood manually. Does anyone have that thingy on the car, and is it possible to instal it on the car?

On my Golf Plus the hood/bonnet stays up by itself if pushed right up. The manual prop on the r/h side seems to be an extra belt and braces job probably for health and safety reasons.

My 2006 Golf Plus only has the manual prop, despite being top of the range!

Was meaning to do this a while back as i had some stuff lying about, so today while the weather was nice, i thought id have a go.
Heres my plus with gas struts.

Made a custom bracket, cut bent and shaped it from those holed metal strip things you can buy at B&Q, then gave it a coat of black. Just used the wing bolt to afix it.

Just bolted the ball joint through the hole with some washer, and thats it.

You make my life easier with this, one more question do you know what is the length of these struts?

these struts are 9" body, about 15" extended, but if im honest, these are possibly a tad too long, they arent fully extended when the hoods open.
