A6 1.9 TDI 130 ECU re-map

Hi, new member to VWaudiforum - so hello to everyone! Please could you help, I have just bought an A6 130 TDI 2003 with 90k on the clock. I was thinking of having an ECU remap to up the power to 160 BHP. Will this have any adverse effect on my engine life - are the engines upto the job of increasing the BHP? I have been quoted £220 and told that they use a laptop and software...

Seems a bit low to me, you should be able to push these up atleast 40hp and 80nm torque. Find out what software they use, if it's the KWP2000, steer clear as they my have got it off ebay and using generic files. Make sure they are using Optican, CMD, Byteshooter, Galletto etc, etc.
