Unusable 80 :(

Hi People im new here and have a quick question , i have a 1991 80 2.0E Automatic and have a very very very loud rumble/grinding while driving over 30mph (sounds like the front middle of the car) , whatever it is has to warm up to make this noise as it only starts after 10 minutes of driving but is so loud i cannot use the car :( , any ideas?

It sounds like the problem we used to see a lot on the A80 and A100 in the 80’s and 90’s and that was failure of the differential inside the gearbox but without driving the car it is difficult to be sure.

thank you very much for your quick reply :) , does the automatic model have a separate oil filler on the diff or is it lubed from the gearbox?

The diff has its own oil.
