My friend owns and runs a little tuning company, so thought it would be rude not to have my 2.0TDi remapped while i was there today.

First thing we did was a stock power run. My 2007 2.0 TDi has covered just under 80K miles (not by me as i recently bought it) Stock power was an impressive 137.8 BHP from a stock 140 BHP, not bad for 80K miles.

After taking a scan of my ECU map, it was sent off to secret program man where mysterious things happend and before i knew it, a new map was sent back via email. Once the map was uploaded, we then took another power run.

Initially, power gain was just shy of 170 BHP (which youll see in the video) but he did a second run using 3rd gear (dont know why) and i got a much better result as you can see from below.

Good gains there.

However (and keep in mind I'm no expert here), you seem to hit peak power very early in the rev band and peak torque very late in the rev band. I'm basing that on figures quoted from the VW website, and like I say, I'm no expert, so I wouldn't start worrying lol. Also, I believe the engine is rated at 140PS, not 140BHP. 140PS is equates to roughly 138BHP.

I'll point out again I'm no expert, that's all stuff I've just picked up from reading about. I'd wait for someone who really knows what they are on about :)

I hear what your saying. Im not overly convinced of the results myself, well not the 185 bhp print anyways for the following reasons.
- There was an interuption in the dyno setup between the 2 runs. Settings were cleared for some unknown reason so the car had to be setup once more.
- A comment "your car seem to be holding back" after the 169 BHP video run
- Slight issuse with ESP and vibration on the rollers.
- 2nd power run was done in 3rd gear which he states is factored in by the dyno, although its still not a direct comparison. This i suspect would alter the peak torque.

In total, there was about 4 runs done after the mapping, no 2 were the same. Im more inclined to think the cars results are more inline with 169BHP video, but i will have it redyno'd sometime.

On the road however, i can definately say the torque is a lot lower than on the graph shows. Boost starts coming in at around 1700 rpm, and by the time youre upto 2K rpm, its pulling hard and torque steer/loss of traction increases. By the time you hit 3.5K rpm, ive more or less chaged up by then. You dont need a lot of pedal to make it shift:o

how is it on fuel now? if you manage to drive it sensibly of course lol.... I once had an L200 and it had the power chip on, alledgedly this helped save fuel, although it just made me boot it more!!

Its ok on fuel, never counted what it was like before so cant compare. The extra power is dead addictive thou, you can cruise past amd overtake even on part throttle, it definately increase fuel comsumption by doing that.
