The car was parked for 2 weeks and due to a rubber bung beneath the battery being clogged water collected in the drivers footwell, this caused the gearbox ecu which is below the drivers seat to malfunction , the corroded pin has been replaced but now when the battery is connected the car is on all the time even when the ignition is swiched off. So to start and stop the engine you have to unplug the fuel unit on top of the engine, then disconnect the battery.
The steering lock is unaffected, the car still zooms along and is not in "limp home mode"
It's a 2000 quattro auto
