I have a 57 plate Q7 3.0tdi s line 240bhp...... Last week I went on the motorway and the coolant warning message came up, so when I got home I checked the level and put in at least 2litres of water.
Next morning, I went on the motorway again and when i got back I had to top up water again.

Also the car is giving out alot of exhaust fumes especially first thing when it is cold.. I was wondering if that is normal?

Is there anyone else who has had the same problem??

As far as I can tell the car is not leaking water because there are no puddles on the floor but where is the water going??? Would adding the recommended anti-freeze help or is this going to turn out to be a major problem??

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks:1zhelp:

Just been to audi specialist....they're guessing its leaking from the egr cooler but are going to strip engine to make sure...costing £500 just for the strip down hope it is not going to go in to the £1000'ss

ripped off there mate

its easy to tell if the egr cooler is leaking and total labour to install around 5 hours, there fiddly but £500 is more than a dealer would charge and if you try the dealer you may get a good will contribution as its a know fault

You're right,

But I had no idea where to go and you know the usual story...numpties like me always think that dealers are gonna charge over the odds. The guy said it was 9.25hrs labour!!

I didnt know its a coomon fault on q7's, my car has only done 40k.

Sorry for sounding thick but do you think it will have damaged anything else in the engine??

Thanks mate

normally there fine as it just burns through the exhaust manifold

quote this time to the robbing so called specialist indi stink bags

manufacturers official labour time

Remove and install exhaust gas recirculation cooler

680 TU so call it 7 hours with 100 time unit mins in the labour hour

I reckon you would have got 100% parts good will and reduced labour rate to warranty cost

Thanks mate,

I'll keep you posted

Gonna ring me tomorrow to let me know what needs replacing exactly (probably a screw that will take 20 hours labour time!!)

I wish I had read your reply earlier, would have saved me alot of money time and headache:aargh4:
