Hi guys,
i've just spent the weekend changing the rear struts, fitting lowering springs and changing the front upper supsension arms on both sides. For once a haynes book of lies was actually quite good and things happened as it said. Unfortunately i didnt get time to do the TRE's but looking at them and reading the haynes manual the explanation in the book doesnt make sense. It looks like it should be a case of removing the securing bolt, removing a bolt into the top of them, detaching them from the hub carrier then slackening off the adjustment nut and unscrewing them. Does that sound about right?
Its a '98 tdi.

They are removed by releasing the top 13-mm headed M8 bolt and the side D headed M10 bolt, which can b very seized in. Then the TRE will come out. The inner fixing can be extremely corroded into the track rod. The TRE distance MUST be accurately set to ensure the correct tracking.
