Audi 80 tdi rev counter oil light problems

I have a problem with my 1993 1.9 tdi Avant the oil light comes on and the rev counter ceases to work the engine runs erratic then after a while all of a sudden the rev counter comes back on and oil light goes out then engine runs as normal,this happens intermittently can any body point me to the problem?
