Hi,

I am looking for some rear parking sensors, however i don't have a clue about these.

Any suggestions for kits? Any ideas about how good the number plate kits are?

Any pictures/diagrams to show how to fit these kits?

Would you trust ebay/amazon kits?

Also, any fitters in the Birmingham area?

Thanks in advance.

Well your probably like me after driving the car for a while I wish I had ordered the parking sensor option £435. I find the front of the car harder to judge rather than the rear because the bonnet drops off quite sharply so its a guesstimate.

There are retrofit parking sensor out there just Google them, as for saying which is the best you just have to read the reports. The same goes for eBay if they advertise a particular make and model just Google that.

Planning on buying the Dolphin DPS 400, and it comes in the colour you want... It gets good reviews on Autoexpress

I think that I would have bought the sensors after using the car for a while as I find it more difficult to park accurately than my previous mk4

However £435 is steep (as usual) for a VW option, when Dolphin will supply & fit for under £150. I know 2 people (soon to be 3) with them & they work fine

Does anybody have pics of the rear bumper on the GTD with sensors - I'm going to fit the Dolphin kit but want to make it as near stock as possible.

Cobra do VW approved sensors. There is a place in Leicester http://www.icsleisure.co.uk/

That can supply and fit for you. I had my 09 A4 Sline done by them. Flawless.

Are you thinking of retro fitting the rear sensors ac606?

certainly am, thanks for the link. II wonder if they could be fitted to the black trim area on the bumper, although the angle and ground reflection could be a problem, will investigate further.....

Thanks for the advice.

I am not keen on drilling holes into the bumper, so I was thinking more about the number plate sensor.

How easy is the fitting?

Interesting thread, makes me feel glad I did add the front and rear sensors to my order.

Just for the record my wifes car has a rather simple reversing sensors mounted in a frame that sits behind/around the rear number plate. Only two sensors so not the most sophisticated system but does work surprisingly well, and no drilling required.
