Hi can someone advise if the removal of the upper control arm can be replaced by DIY?

Also on my Audi a4 2000 the seat belts are a bit tired on retracting and require manual persuasion. Is there a reaper for this?

Finally on my AHU 1.9tdi engine, I have seen a mod with regards to tuning, plaacing a resister-pot in the loom to improve the acceleration. Is thi worth it or will it damage the engine?

Any help on the matter is greatly appreciated

Thank you

Yes you can change them yourself, lots of swearing involved though.

Change the belts, should be an easy fix, i need to do this too.

Dont bother with the resistor, all they do is overfuel the engine and give you the illusion that its quicker because you want it to be. Best bet is to get some .216 injector nozzles, or some PP520's. You will need to recode the ECU to change the fuel load using VCDS.

Change the fuel filter before you do this though, takes 10mins and will improve throttle response.

Hope that helps

Thank you for the response.

Is there a specific write up on just changing the contorl arm?

As forthe belts as there is no repair, how much should I look to pay for new ones or can I get away with second hand (cost)? Can later audi model belts fit my car (which year)?

For the injectors I will give them a whirl, which do you recommend from the two suggested or is there no difference?

Thank you

Not sure on the arm write up, but i could have a look and let you know how its done. From what i looked a today it looks fairly straight forward, you just need to undo the bolts that hold the pins that go through the brackets.

Belts there are a few on ebay, prices range, heres (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Audi-A4-B5-Seatbelt-front-right-RHD-black-/310170266969?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item483796ad59#ht_1180wt_905) one i found. There are lots more just type in 'audi a4 seat belts b5'

Nozzles, Ebay T4's (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-1-9-TDI-216-injector-nozzles-GOLF-PASSAT-AUDI-BOSCH-/330547172218?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4cf625937a#ht_500wt_1156) And the Bosio PP520's (http://www.idparts.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=500)

The T4's are bosch ones, i wouldnt recommend getting the cheaper ones as the spray pattern might be bad, and thus resulting in more problems that you solved.

The Bosio's are from the US i cant find them any where else, thats the cheapest US site i can find.

As i said before you will need to recode the fueling to a higher load, even though the pump will be pumping more you should notice a better MPG if you are driving economically. But as with a new found power...it will be hard lol Also to get them working even better, you may need to take them to a specialised garage to get them balanced so you dont get a retarded fueling.

I am going to go for the bosch ones, simply for the cheaper price and i think it will be enough as i cant really afford to get a bigger turbo and all the other stuff that would improve further. I will however be getting a front mount intercooler and a remap at the same time as the nozzles. Nozzles should add about 15-30bhp, an then the map with the FMIC another 15-30, thats the plan anyway.

Hope that helps.

Thank you Hibbsy21 for againthe response.

Full of information for me to chew through.

I will check out the belts and probably go with your choice of the Bosch injectors.

Happy days

Just need the pit falls with doing the arms. Stiff nuts etc.

Thank you

Yeah full of information and advice that i cant afford to do lol :(

With the stiff nuts, get a blow torch an heat them up and/or soat them in wd-40, and then make sure you coppercrest them when you put them back
