Wouldnt have a clue mate but cant you use your vin number and ring your local Audi garage for a quote on the part. In doing so you should be able to get the part number off them as well at the same time.

www.vagcat.com

Sign up and work your way through to the relevant section. I'd post up the information but I don't know enough about your car.

Either a label in the owners manusl or in the spre wheel bay and the engine code is normally below the XXXKw / engine power details. Regards Peter

Go back to vagcat and look for the part that fits the engine you have, in this case, an AFB - fun huh!

thanks guys,

think i found the part, although it says it covers all engine codes on vag cat..

i have a few options

recondition unit quoted £550

New Bosch Unit UK 1000+

New Bosch Unit from eastern europe (from a friend) quoted £450!!
as long as i know its genuine and correct part...i will go with this

otherwise a recondition i think

Excellent!

It may be worth contacting one of our parts suppliers just to see what they can offer you.

Have a look in our Supporting Companies (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=33) area for a few ideas.

You appear to have a choice of three. Regards Peter

after my near £2000 quote i had some time with the car this wknd, i decided to locate the maf and take it off. Went for a drive WOW total difference the car pulled like a dream! turbo felt great, i drove it to see if the top speed had improved and it is happy up to about 105 now (should be more right??) but anyways i dont have a 2000 bill!! cant belive autotechnics didnt try this. i guess they just read their computers..the gut even told me on the phone that the maf is known for being a problem! anyway i am now much happier and i have a new MAF on the way ...as well as all new filters, oil, and belts all should be less than a few hundred.

Thanks for all your help though.
