Hi there,

One of my delightful children (don't know as none of them will own up) has snapped the lid off the rear drinks holder. I've just stripped it out to repair but the prognosis is a replacement. Does anybody know where i can get one from other than vw?? I will ring them tomorrow for a price but looking at £100 probably..

Part number 1ko 862 532 f
1ko 862 533 g
1ko 862 533 b

Noticed the part was made 22.5.2009 and picked the car up from dealers 15.6.2009 so not been sat in a field anywhere!!!!

Try 'German, Swedish and French', or any motor factors.
Often they can order the part at trade price and supply to you much cheaper than a dealer.

What ! ? VW can't make childproof cars ? Whatever next ! ?
Trim parts generally are dealer only ( other than scrapyard).

Have you tried super glue Paul?

Yeah thought about that after i posted.. Unfortunately the wife had the car valeted yesterday and the little bit of plastic which has snapped off has been sucked up!!!

I have therefore got some araldite rapid and part of a plastic curtain hook.. see if it works:p Its still drying now..

The drinks holder still works fine but the lid will not close; it comes off its hinges at the bottom:(

So you want a lid as well thats why I said the lid is a tenner.

Yes it a pain these women always cleaning up.

Crisis averted.....

Some galloot was trying to put it back together incorrectly so the lid isn't broken at all it just needed clipping back in to the main springy bit of the drinks holder - this is the bit that stops it coming off its hinges:biglaugh:

Thanks for all the help guys..

only goes to show vwcabriolet.... VW do make child proof cars. If they stand on the drinks holder whilst open the lid detaches itself LOL

Suppose a trip to TGI Fridays in on the cards now to apologise to the kids for NOT breaking my car:Blush2:

Have never looked that thoroughly into the back of my car. Did not know that there was a drinks holder. In fact in virtually all my saloon cars, no one has ever sat in the back of those cars. Perhaps I need just a 2-seater, after all!

Nice one Paul :)

"Nobody ever sat in the back seat" sounds like an Arthur Daley line :biglaugh:
