Hi guys

I'm looking to put 18" 9 spoke TT alloys on my 98 1.8t. The PCD is correct (5x100)
but the 18's have an ET33. I read my model ET is 30 to 45. So am I ok to go for rims with ET anywhere between 30-45? Can anyone shed a bit of light for me pls

On a separate note - has anyone used a green cotton air filter, thoughts? Any real difference? I hear the K&N can gunk up the MAF

Ta v much

I've just checked my existing wheels and they are ET42. So ET33 is 9(mm?) difference.
Any idea if they will fit?

Cheers

The factory spec for an 8x18 rim is ET33.

I wish whoever was saying that a K&N will damage the Air Mass Meter would shut the **** up, I have been selling them for many years and run them on my own cars and they never upset the AMM. Yes certain a brand of foam air filter I have used (not mentioning the make otherwise they will get, err, cross :D) have given me contamination issues but never with K&N.

Cracked it. I've just found an offset/ET calculator which may be useful to anyone else thinking about changing wheels:

haha, a gentle reminder to NOT listen to hear-say there :D

I've just used the calculator and the TT 18s will be 10mm closer to the strut cover and 'stick out' 28mm more than my standard (1.8t) 16s - I think I'll get away with it.
