I have a 1997 Mk3 Golf 1.6 (AFT engine) and I want to replace the standard square air filter box with a K&N Induction kit. Can anyone tell me which one would be suitable for this engine because I have had a look and found a kit which relates to my model and year but it says 'excludes Hitachi MAF' which is what my car has, so I would like to know what kit would fit this engine.
Also how hard are they to fit, and does anyone already have one and do they make a difference?
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Cheers

I've fitted one to a MAP sensor driven 1.6 MPI, quite easy to do, easier/cheaper to buy some silicone pipes to do it yourself.

Make sure you can seperate the filter from the warm air from the engine bay and you will get 'some' improvement. Mostly at speed.

Works best when stacked up with better flow throughout intake and exhaust.

Also be careful of your MAF, dont over tighten when fitting one or you will damage it.
