Hey guys,

I just had to replace my O/S track rod end for MOT. I got the part from GSF which appeared to be identical to the original, counted the turns to take the old one off (24 1/2) and counted the turns of the new one on (24).
My tracking is now buggered! When my wheels are straight (driving in a straight line) my steering wheel is turned slightly left.
I can only assume the new part was somehow different to the original as my counting can't be worng!! Haha!

The question is: to solve the problem, should I wind the O/S end further in or further out?

The counting of turns on and off is only meant as a rough guide to enable you to drive the car from your drive to the tyre place to have the alignment done. It doesn't remove the need for an alignment. Most places wont charge to check.

Assuming the new part is correct it have less give in the ball joint and so will hold the bearing housing in a different place.
