Key type - Banjo or flick out blade type

Hi, Can someone please tell me if its possible to have the flick out blade type key programmed to a 1997 1.8 Passat which has the banjo style 2 button key? I just pefer the design of the flick type to my existing key.

Many thanks for taking the time to reply - thats a very interesting article that you sent. I have managed at last to get my banjo style key working again on the car using VAG-Com. Took me about 10 mins and this was despite being told by an independant VW "specialist" that only main dealers have the ability to reprogram immobilisers and match radio keys to the cars security system.

Again thanks for taking the time to reply - I began to think I had incorrectly posted my initial messages.
