VW Bora problem continued

Hi People,

I've had a home diagnostics specialist look at my poorly Bora today, and it's not looking good.

Aparrently my engine management system will need remapping/reprogramming - the coding is ECU open circuit (code 01314).

Can anybody shed any light on this with a rough (g)uestimate of cost if this needs replacing/remapping.

Could be an open circuit, bad solder or broken wire.

I would also check power relay 109, as it could also cause this error code.

Many thanks for that, you have now got me wondering - some of the wiring did look as though it was in need of some repair I will be honest.

Now, I'm not very technically minded so could you please explain in 'laymans terms' power relay 109.

It is the relay that supplies power to all the engine sensors & ECU.

The old Black type was prone to failure, and was replaced with the sturdier Grey unit.
