Hi, has anyone retrofitted foglights to their vehicle?
I recently bought a Passat SE - wanted the comfort over the sports option - I would however like to fit foglights and any info/help on the matter would be great.:biggthump
Thanks

I'm also part way through this, I have to get all OEM parts as I want to use them as DRL's instead of my xenons. Heard you need a new CECM, is there a list of part numbers anywhere that will be set up for fogs? What else do I need, obviously the fogs and grilles, a harness? Or may there be one behind the blank grille? Thanks :)

From the How to retrofitting fog lights in a Golf the wiring harness supplied comes with the wiring required to attach to the CECM - seems complex however was not sure if this How To applied to Passats.
Was a project of many I was thinking of as well as bypassing EGR and having remapped to drop EGR function and increase torque. All has to wait untill I sell my Mercedes CLK.

Seen many of your threads TomBoy your car looks great

From memory I think ECS tuning do a plug and play harness for foglights. Ive also read that it's a good idea to avoid the cheap chinese fogs and grills on eBay, as the tend to melt if you actually use them.

I did this on my SE and it was a doddle.

Sourced everything from an Ebay originally, from a seller called VAG TEAM in China. Very cheap, 2 lights were £40 for the pair, but crap.

The light switch was OK for 5.95, the grills didn't have any backing to them, the lights were bad, let water in all the time.

I have since bought two better foglights from these people http://stores.ebay.co.uk/AEP-DIRECT-Citroen-Peugeot-Renault?_rdc=1 they aren't selling any at the moment.

Much better made, with a proper sealing gasket and hence no water ingress problems.

I wasn't going to bother with a CECM, but did get a genuine loom for £40 on line.

Two good quality relays from maplin control the fogs. One becomes live via the trigger wire from the light switch, and the other is live when ignition is on.

I was thinking of using the fogs as a kind of DRL as mentioned earlier in this thread, but using a dim dip resistor.

Where is the CECM? I might source everything from a crashed sport..

I didn't realise they made B5's from "2005 Onwards" ... the date in the title is March 2005 on. (Not 2003, which was the B5.5... different fogs from the B5)

It does say in the description VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT FOGLAMP FOGLIGHT RH LH 03/05-> but it says otherwise in the specs

Yes you're right not b5 but b5.5 but they will not fit the b6 defo. The b6 ones should be 05/10

i would doeble check before I buy get p/n and check with VW dealer

No, you are still misunderstanding.

The 03/05> is indicating March 2005 on... not 2003 to 2005.

If they wrote 05/10> that would be picked up as May 2010 on.
