remap

Hi all. I'm currently considering to have my engine remapped sometime in march and was wondering if anyone could advise me on some specifics. ie a reputable remap company "up north", power gains( are these guaranteed), how long does it take, do i need to book in or just turn up, what do i get for my £, will it stress out my engine

any help would be great...cheers
