Brake light switch problems?

Hi there,
Apologies if this should be on another thread , but returning home yesterday when parked up and ignition off the brake lights on my Ibiza 1.2 (54 plate) were still lit!
Had to remove the switch otherwise the battery would have drained, so phoned local seat dealer to book in the car for re-fitting a new switch.
Once or twice recently I have also had an unexplained and intermittant drop of power in lower gears, and I'm wondering if this is something a bit more serious than the brake switch, any ideas would be most welcome please.

if the swithch was sticking on then this could cause the abs to want to kick in whilst your not even braking!! how much was the switch?

The new switch did the trick, and was done under 3 year warranty.
Out of interest I asked the price of the switch - £8 + vat.
