Beep from engine ????

I have a 2005 a3 fsi. I keep getting a beep / short siren sound coming from the engine. It's intermittent and I was wondering if it's related to the anti theft system ? The other day the stereo went into safe mode. Could this be related to the anti theft system and the beep ?

Sounds like it might be coming from the alarm system


I once had this problem on another car, car was a shed that no one would want to take so I just disconnected the alarm and the beeping stopped. I realise this is not a good solution for a nice shiny Audi though!

Yeah not something I really want to do !

for the radio to go SAFE suggests low battery voltage.
The beeps could be the alarm back up batteries dying.
Get you car battery checked first.

If it is the alarm system it could be because of your stereo! If it is a sony? it beeps to tell you that you have not removed the face plate(quite clever really)
