Code 00588- Airbag Igniter

Hi all,

got this code on the reader which relates to the airbag deployment. im guessing.

Ross Tech is giving me these options for the code

Check Wiring from/to Airbag Igniter Driver Side (N95)
Check Coil Spring with Slip Ring (F138)

ive had a quick look on ETKA but cant see much, any ideas where i should be looking or going about testing these?

check f138, do not apply any voltage or even a multimeter to airbag circuits as the small voltage used by a multimeter is enough to trigger

to check the wiring you need to disconnect the circuit completely so the control unit and the consumer are isolated


I would suggest you use mvb in address 15 to determine the fault and check the connectors for good contact then replace the failed part


also post the code

if its igniter value to high then its normally open circuit
