A bit of a strange one this and I'm hoping someone can shed some light??

Audi A3 1.8 non turbo, running like it's on 3 cylinders and lately been having starting issues. I changed the battery as it had an 038 in it and i've put the correct size 063 in but still failing to start, it is very sluggish to turn over and sometimes won't at all.
So I thought it might be down to a common fault of the week transponder signal thingy in the dashboard but the yellow key light goes out when you put the ignition on.
I know this probably all sounds a bit complicated but does anyone have any ideas? Would the low amperage of the previous battery have any effect on the coil pack? I am having it plugged in to Vagcom next week so hoping that will come up with something.
Many thanks for your thoughts

Depending on what the engine code is I suspect you have a coil pack or ignition amp failure.

Ok, thanks, do you think this would affect the sluggish starting?

Not sluggish no, more lumpy if it is not firing on one cylinder.
