Hi All, I'm new to the forum so be gentle! I am thinking of purchasing an A4 Avant 143 S-line. I have found a nice low miler. April 2009, and then asked the main dealer if a towbar could be fitted as part of the deal. I was absolutely flabergasted when he told me the cost would be £3181.00, but they would contribute £500 :( Yes, over three thousand pounds to fit a towbar! The list of parts seemed huge, including 2 new fans, various new mounts, new alternator, plus the wiring kit and towbar itself.
When you read the spec it says it can tow a reasonable weight, but it doesn't say you have to take a loan out to do it. It makes the factory fitted option seem really cheap.
Has anyone else come across this, or has someone in the dealership got a hate of caravans!! Does it really need all this stuff? I suppose I would invalidate the warrantee if I didn't fit them?

Appreciate your comments and knowledge....

Don
