Hi guys,
I have a 3.2 DSG (04) which went through its MOT recently, I had a warning on the report to say the mufflers are loose and I would need a new rear box.
Just been to another garage to get a price and they're quoting £670 for a new one!!! They're saying its an Audi part that has to come from Germany but I've seen performance ones cheaper!!
Anyone know if this price is correct or any alternatives I could look at (supplies etc), at that price its 10% of the value of the car!
Cheers,
MS
at that price I would suspect they are talking about cats....

If only, first thing I asked and no its a Cat Back, mid section and rear box :(

So it's £670 for a cat back, mid section and a rear box.
Is the rear box not available on its own?

Aparently not, comes as one package but I'm guessing it physically splits looking at after market Miltek version which is sounding a much better option right now, £540 delivered and lifetime guarantee.
£670 for three sections or £540 for one....doesn't sound like a better option to me :(
Can you not sell on the two unneeded sections from the first option?

You misunderstand, the OEM Audi part comes in 2 parts (mid section, back box) £670
The Miltek performance system again comes in the same 2 parts (mid section, back box) is £170 cheaper and there's a slight posibility of a performance gain.
Ah ha, in that case, the Miltek is a better option. I saw catback as one pipe, mid section as another and back box as a third.
That would also infer there are other manufacturers doing similar things?
I know Crasher (a sponsor) recommends (and sells) Jetex but I can't see any for your model on his site (www.candrenterprises.co.uk). Might be worth sending him a PM?
