Thermostat - where?

Hi all - new to this forum having just picked up an Audi 80 and needing help.

I have a 94/L reg model and need to replace the thermostat. I can't find it. Can anyone tell me where it is?

Also can't find a haynes manual!

on my 1994 2.0e the thermostat is on the left hand side of the radiator as you face the car

If its a TDI then the thermostat is down by the block very low almost on the sump, looking in from the front of the engine compartment its on the RHS. Total sod to get to, but easy once you've done it a couple of times, be careful replacing it as its easy to get misaligned and hence leak some.

you cant get a haynes manual for that year i have tried i think its down to getting a cd like whats on ebay

Just be aware that some of the CD@s are the Mitchel variety, hopeless to use. I know because I foolishly bought one, it's clumsy at best.

The thermostat should be on the radiator I think
