Can anybody help I need to know to change the ecu on this car
diagrams or instructions

Do you mean the engine ecu, cause there are afew?

The ECU on a TDI is under the big plastic piece at the bottom of the windscreen, you need to take off the wipers pop the bonnet unsrew the four screws at the right remove the small section of the plastic cover then unclip the large piece and remove it the ECU is in the middle of the compartment below this the large plastic piece has an upstand which clips into a slot that runs along the bottom of the windscreen its a bit awkward to unclip so be careful. Iam assuming a GTI ECU would be in the same place can anyone confirm this.You ar`nt supposed to turn your ignition on with the ECU out i disconnected the battery first too.;)
