143 or 170

Folks. Hopefully getting rid of my B8 soon to be replaced with a Q5. With experience, whats best....the 143 or 170 TDI? e.g. is the 143 seriously slow enough that your granny could overtake you in a moped.

Being Quattro I would get the 170 one, but I would like to see you being overtaken by some "in" a moped ;)

Not an identical situation so sorry to jump your thread but my Dad is looking at an A4 Allroad 2.0 TDi. A Q5 is out of his price range - and whilst he loves my A8 what is the A4 Avant like and should he be going with a 170 or a 143 and a remap perhaps ?

Have heard the 170 has only slightly better fuel consumption than the 3TDi so real choice is 143 or 3TDi :), As to Allroad, if your Dad does less than 10K miles a year just get the 3TDi, Loads of torque and 40mpg possible if you can resist experiencing the torque from this engine. :) A re-mapped 3TDi sees 400Lb/ft :biglaugh:

Agree with you on the 3tdi...my a8 is a remapped 3 and goes very well indeed !!
