increase in noise from gearbox

1.9tdi sport avant estate 03 145000 miles , i have increased noise similar to an increase in revs. though NO reduction in power or increase in rev. counter will perform as normal at all speeds
thinking it could be gearbox related any ideas fixes regards rich

Assuming you've got no vibrations or shaking could be gearbox,I would change the oil firstly that can work wonders and is cheap to do.
