1995 A6 2.5Tdi glow plug flashing - help please

12 years old and still my pride and joy but old girl is getting few niggles!

yesterday glow plug light flashed for about 10-15 secs then went off - I've looked at manual and it says something may be wrong with engine management system but car seems to be running ok now.

is there anything I can check to see if car is now in failsafe mode?

If problem is engine manangemnt - whats likely cost of putting it right?Would like to take it up to 500k miles but not at any cost
still on original exhaust and clutch - no bills yet apart from annual service and belt changes

It could also double as a 'bulb out' warning.

It is apparently the Diesel Pre Heating/Cat light in the lower centre of the dash insert. The ECU is a different one and so it the bulb out. Check the glow plugs are still alive. Regards Peter

Surely a 95 will have the early type, non DIS instrument layout?

Yep I looked the model and year up and I think it is the all bulb version he has. Regards Peter
