Updating your phone (and the car kit?)

I have a 2006 Golf Plus with the dealer-fitted support and replaceable cradle ("Handy Adapter set") for an obsolete range of Nokia phones.

Now I want to upgrade my phone, I find VW haven't made any new cradles in the last couple of years - so I have to buy another out-of-date phone or replace the built-in electronics completely or find some sort of conversion kit or else ... ?

Does anyone know of any independent cradle supplier, or who actually manufactured the old cradles, so I could identify the newest?

Any suggestions ????
