I was reading today about the progress BMW have been making with their diesel engines, 22 models in their range are now capable of 48mpg or more. The 118 diesel now has 145 bhp, produces something like 123g/km of CO2 and is capable of 68 odd MPG on a run. Any chance these engines could be put in a car that i'd allow myself to be seen in? ;) In all seriousness though, its pretty impressive stuff.

indeed impressive, but the word concept jumps out at me. To be honest, all of these cars will need to be 12 years old before i can afford one anyway :D
