View Full Version : 2011 CC VCDS autoscan anyone?

hartry

If anyone has a 2011 spec CC and VCDS would they mind posting an autoscan on here or even sending it to me in a personal message if you don't fancy uploading here?

If not I would settle for part numbers for the Central Electronics, Central Convenience and Instrument modules.

Thanks.

so what does that lot all mean then?

hartry

Simon do many of the modules really have no label file? What version of VCDS are you using?

simonsheil
31-01-2011, 03:26 PM
10.6.3

I was suprised too meant no long coding help for most, I need to map them and get uploaded to VCDS.

hartry
31-01-2011, 03:47 PM
Have u done nany fiddling around in central convenience and/or central elctronics to see if the bits and bytes match up with the same modules from earlier CCs? For example the Cent Elec used to be 3C0-937-049-30-H and the Cent Conv used to be 3C0-959-433-46, you can quite easily rename some label files so the labels for these older modules show up in the long coding helper for your newer modules and then try changing some options and see if the outcome ties up with the label?

hartry
31-01-2011, 04:12 PM
Had a poke around and I think rather than base any testing on older module labels you should base it on newer modules from different vehicles, for example central electronics you could rename 1K0-937-08x-09.clb to 3AA-937-08x-09.clb to get long coding helper labels in vcds - then test to see if they do what they say they do. If it is like the Golf 6 which I think it will be because the central electronics module has a very similar part number, there is no central convenience module it's all rolled into one. The central convenience module on the Golf I've read described as a 'ghost module' which is just there for compatibility with other older components.

hartry
31-01-2011, 07:02 PM
Done some work on this today, bit difficult without a car to work on but anyway...

My theory is that central electronics bytes 0 through 8 replace the central convenience module settings in non central conv equipped vehicles like the Golf as mentioned earlier. However the CC retains the central conv module so all these bytes are empty when this cent electric module is employed in the CC. The options that are listed in bytes 0 through 8 seem to align with the options that are available in the 2010 model CC convenience module.

Then if you look at the attached you will see I have converted Simon's central electric long code into binary, listed all the long coding options and marked which bits were set in Simon's car. Now to me they seem to fit with the options that I would expect to be enabled in the CC from the factory, however there are just a couple that seem a little strange - e.g. coming home isn't ticked - or have you unticked it in the MFD? Or auto rear window wipe with reverse gear!? But a good example of the fit is that byte 24 sets the DRL dimming and the value stored in the relevant bits is 1100100 which is 100 in decimal, i.e. 100%, as I would expect. Also there were no set bits for which there was no explanation in the label file.

Remember that you start counting bytes from 0 left to right but within a byte bits count up from 0 to 7 right to left!

I’m going to have a crack at the convenience module later.

hartry
31-01-2011, 07:33 PM
Applied the same method to the label file from the old convenience module 3C0-959-433-46 and it seems to tie in with Simon's options too - there is now an additional sheet in the attached .xls.

I also attached the label files which I think should work if you place them in your labels\user directory to test this with.

auto rear window wipe with reverse gear!?

The CC doesnt have a rear window wiper does it?

if you programme it to auto=switch on, can you then retro fit one ? ;)

Having finally received my car today I can confirm that the label files I attached earlier in this thread appear to work, certainly the changes I made today all worked as expected, including: instruments to rest of world, comfort indicator 4 blinks, beep on lock/unlock, rain closing, ch/lh via rls, drl on/off in mfd, ata confirmation in mfd, coming home start at ignition off, cornering light with steering wheel only (not when indicating), flash hazard light on emergency braking.

Oh and instrument staging was already enabled on my car!? Wasn't expecting that.

Well, I didnt want to impose but if your offering then it would be rude to say no!! of course, it all depends on whether my car is going to arrive any time soon! Seems like a little jaunt to Coventry may be in order when it does!

hartry
11-02-2011, 09:53 PM
it's only 90 mins from stockport if u time it, get on down make it work like it was intended to!

hartry
11-02-2011, 10:00 PM
when i say if u time it, i mean 'if u time your departure to coincide with minimal traffic'. just did bicester to south cornwall 3.5 hours met no traffic at bristol, mother in law even didn't moan about then commented on 90mph smoothness, in new cc - now that is one for the books! (had suspension on C) ;)

Hello Hartry, just been reading the VW fiasco that is Passat CC deliveries (or not) and I came across this thread. I ordered my CC in July, duly delivered in October so its the 2010 model for me. I was wondering if it is possible to change VCDS autoscan using what you have posted for the 2011 model.... your advice would be most welcome ;). Cheers, Steve.

Shouldn't matter that yours is a 2010 - the software should be aware of the modules in your car and able to program them (they are more similar to the old B6 Passat which it certainly works with). The reason I had to suss out te codes for the 2011 for myself is that it is so new that those modules are not built in to the software yet. Send me a PM if you want anything coding. I like lager ;-)

Hartry Can you let me know what all of these things mean please for the layman, they sound interesting but not sure what each option means. Cheers

Wasn't expecting that.

instruments to rest of world - means you can do away with the persistent digital km/h readout in the mfd between the dials - in fact you get the option to have it on or off in the menu, when it's off the temperature moves down to where the km/h reading usually goes and as such is visible whatever you're looking at in the mfd e.g. whilst navigating. Also you get the option to have a large digital mph speedo as one of the options as well as mpg, range, etc.

comfort indicator four blinks - when you just tap the indicator stalk instead of turning it on fully, it usually blinks three times which isn't enough in my opinion. this changes it to four blinks

beep on lock/unlock - as well as the indicators flashing, the car makes a subtle beep on lock and double beep on unlock

rain closing - if you lock the car with the windows open, then the rain sensor dedects water, it closes the windows for you, you also get the option to turn the feature on and off in the mfd

coming home/leaving home via rain and light sensor - for some reason vw deliver the car with manual coming home lights (you have to yank the full beam stalk after turning the ignition off to activate them), the way i have it the come on automatically if it is dark. again you are able to turn the feature off in the mfd if you wish

drl on/off in mfd - again, for some reason, vw deliver the (halogen at least) car with daytime running lights disabled and no way to turn them on without vagcom. the way i have it there is an option in the mfd to enable drl's and when it is turned on, the front dipped beam bulbs are lit at all times (no rear lights) then when the rls detects it's dark or you go above 90 the full lights come on. the drls burn dimmer than normal dipped beam, again this is configurable and i have mine set to 66% intensity

ata confirmation in mfd - this is meant to allow you to turn the lock/unlock beep on and off via a menu in the mfd but i later realised it didn't actually make any difference on my car so i subsequently removed the option from my mfd menu

coming home start at ignition off - i think by default the coming home lights start when you open the door, so you arrive home at night with the lights on, turn the ignition off and the lights go off, then open the door and the lights come on again for 30 seconds. this way the 30 seconds starts when you turn the igntition off so there is no lights on-off-on-off sequence when arriving home

cornering light with steering wheel only - by default the cornering light (fog light on one side only) lights up whne the lights are on, under 40 mph and you either turn the wheel or indicate. in my opinion it looks a bit silly when sat at traffic lights in a city indicating, looks like you have one bulb out. this way it doesn't activate with the indicator, just when you turn the wheel, it still lights up in time to light the way in my opinion

flash hazard - when you brake really hard the hazards blink automatically to alert drivers behind to the situation

hopefully that should shed a bit of light on things for you

With regard to the ata confirm I found it turned off either the lock or unlock beep. I forget which but it was one not both.

How do you adjust the number of flashes on the indicator?

Hello VCDS gods,

I have managed to gain access to a VCDS setup for an hour or so later this week.

Would anyone be kind enough to give me any pointers (screen shots etc) of where I need to be going to change the following: :beerchug:

Auto Rain closure
Beep on unlock/lock
Rest of world (for MPH digi speedo)
Coming home leaving auto mode
Coming home at ign off
Flash hazards on heavy braking

hartry
21-02-2011, 06:43 PM
Coming home start at ign off
CE byte 12 bit 0 to 0
coming home via light sensor
CE byte 12 bit 2 to 0
coming home on
CE byte 17 bit 5 to 1
leaving home on
CE byte 17 bit 6 to 1

Auto close on rain
RLS byte 0 bit 2 to 1
CC byte 9 bit 1 to 1
CC byte 9 bit 2 to 0

Chirp on lock/unlock
CC byte 10 bit 3 to 1
CC byte 11 bit 3 to 1

Hazard on Emergency Braking
CE byte 16 bit 2 to 1

Instruments ROW
Ins byte 0 bits 4 through 7 to hex 10

------

CE = central electrics module
CC = central convenience module
Ins = instruments module
RLS = rain light sensor module - this last one is a slave to the central electronics module so to get to it you go into central electronics then when you go into coding you choose rls from the drop down box
Recoding the instruments looks different than the rest but when you go into the module in vcds it will be obvious

Check with your mate that he has got the latest beta of vcds installed on his laptop (it is freely downloadable as long as he has got a kosher (non ebay) cable) – it is version 11.something.

If not you will need to download the label files I attached earlier in the thread and unzip them to the labels/user subdirectory within the vcds folder on the guy’s laptop to see the appropriate labels when you go into the CE and CC modules. If you don’t do that you will have to manually count the bytes and bits which can get confusing

;)

Oh and remember with the instruments that once you've changed the coding to ROW you then need to go into your mfd setup menu and untick the alt. speed display option, then go into the list of data available when driving and tick the digital speedo option, same with rain closing, coming home and leaving home, once you enable them you need to tick them in the convenience menu

ATA confirm menu definitely does nothing in my car, tried it with the chirp enabled in the coding then enabling and disabling the ata confirm menu in the mfd, then tried again with it disabled in the coding with it both enabled and disabled in the mfd - all that makes a difference on mine is the coding itself, the option appears in the mfd but checking or unchecking it makes no odds.

Also tested the 'rain close' with a glass of water and it didn't work either :( so removed it from the mfd menu - wonder if anyone else can confirm whether this works on their cars? I felt like a bit of a **** standing there pouring water onto the rain sensor waiting for something to happen, so didn't try for long.

Great thread.

One thing I am looking for is if the mirrors can be folded when double locking the car.

IMHO only being able to close when the key is in the ignition is dangerous as I want to close after I get out not before.

It works correctly on my wife's 57 Seat Leon

Just stood looking like a tool pouring water on my rain sensor again and the rain closing definitely ain't working, this time I coded the car, made sure the box in the mfd was ticked, lights and wipers both set to auto, went for a drive, pulled up with window open, turned off alarm interior monitor, got out and locked car, ate a pack of pickled onion monster munch, then went out and squirted water on the RLS - window didn't budge.

But whilst I was fiddling I did figure out how to turn on teardrop wipe for the front (when you wash the screen it does three wipes, then waits a few seconds then does another) - I had read that you need to add 2048 to the wischer coding (sub module under central electrics), I tried this previously and it didn't work but I twigged today, the coding is in hex so I needed to convert to decimal, add 2048, then convert back to hex and enter that as the code. My original coding was 00B795 so my new coding is 00BF95. This translates to ticking bit 3 in byte 1 which you can do manually in the long coding helper after accepting that no coding assistance is available.

Found something else today, on my halogen CC, central electrics byte 14 bit 7 actually controls cornering light via the separate cornering light housed in the main headlamp unit, not cornering light via fog as it is labelled in the label file i uploaded earlier in this thread. Previously unlabelled byte 14 bit 5 controls cornering light via fog, so if you set both of these bits to 1 you get cornering lights via the additional bulb in the headlamp and the fog at the same time too.

If I did manage to lay my hands on some software and cable... could I do some real damage?

I'm curious about the options and would like to fiddle - but I wouldn't want to lock myself out of the car programming/or kill the new car.

Are you guys using the real VW product or the Ross Tech software?

hartry
28-02-2011, 10:02 PM
Ross Tech.

I wouldn't like to say 'you cannot do any damage to your car' but as long as you do an autoscan first to document all of the module coding as is when the car is delivered from factory, then you should aways be able to go back to that if anything goes wrong.

I've never heard of anyone damaging their car but I'm sure it wouldn't take too long on Google to find someone who has - but that would be the exception rather than the rule. As long as you stick to modifications other people have already done, you'll be OK.

comfort blink to 4
front dim dip drls enabled at 40%

beep when locking on/off via mfd
(did have rain close enabled and via mfd but tested not to work)
no highway light (lights don't come on when set to auto and you drive over 90mph - as if i would)
teardrop wipe - extra wipe few seconds after last wipe when cleaning screen
auto coming home light - works via light sensor rather than having to yank the flash before you get out
coming home start at ignition off - so the lights dont go off when you turn off the ignition then come on again to start the coming home countdown when you open the door - totally gash!
cornering light via normal cornering light (within headlight unit) and via fog light too
corner light (normal + fog) lit when in reverse gear - thismust look gay to any onlookers but helps light up the entire area when manouvering at night
corner light only when turning steering wheel, not when indicating - stops you looking like a tool at traffic lights
windows still work after ignition off and after door open - can't remember if these are standard or not
auto window down - when open windows via remote as soon as they start rolling you can let go of the button and they continue until open rather than you having to hold button down all the way
flash hazard lights on emergency braking

i really don't think there's much else worth doing over and above these, but i wait to be corrected ;)

Sorry, in my last post I wrote it the wrong way around - it is actually auto window up like you requested, once they start they continue until closed even if you release the button, then the lights flash again to confirm it's secure or the horn honks if it was interrupted for some reason e.g. obstacle dtected in window path, auto window open in a similar fashion is not possible however.

Seems strange to me because I thought if they would do one without the other they would do the auto open which wouldn't be able to do any damage but not auto close which has the potential to cause problems with kids or animals around, maybe it's from a security point of view i.e. key squashed in pocket momentarily?

Taaa

Teardrop wipe you just go to central electronics coding then select the wischer sub module, convert the hex to binary (use windows calculator in programming mode), add 2048 to the existing code then convert back to hex and type the new value in.

I definitely get the adaptation channels showing in my CE adaptations list. What version of VCDS are you using and what is the part number of your CE module? - ignore, see below...

Windows up on lock - if you download the label files I attached way up near the top of this thread and then copy them into your labels\user subdirectory of wherever VCDS is installed on your computer, you will get all the correct labels in your CE and CConvenience long coding helper screens, then doing what you want should be straight forward. The only bits I know are wrong are coming home via fog and cornering lights via fog, I have corrected these in my version of the file but no time to upload it right now....

Oh, hang on.... you will get the adaptation channels showing as well once you download my label files. :beerchug:

You need to set the bit called comfort function automatic closing so that the windows continue to roll up after you release the button, maybe in conjunction with a couple of other bits near to that one.

Hmm still no luck in the CE adaptation. I do have items in the CC module though.

CE module # is 3AA 937 087 A
CC Module # is 3AA 959 799

In the CC module adaptation I have something that mentions Comfort Remote, but it is already set to enabled and my windows/sunroof only close if I keep the button held. Not sure if this is Kessy related.

Have set teardrop wipe on via long coding, will test that out when I go for a drive.

Thanks for your help so far!

hartry
23-04-2011, 10:10 AM
The majority of the options are in long coding not adaptation channels - automatic closing is definitely in there and there only. Did you do a full autoscan of your car before you started so that you know what to put it all back to if you need to? If not it's not a problem because the software logs all the changes you make in the debug folder but you should do one for good measure. If one of the files you downloaded has a different part number than 3aa937087a change the name of label file to match your part number and you should see all the options.

Err we're not meant to talk about things like that on here, I believe that the ebay cables are usually an older version and non-upgradeable, and sometimes (for example with the can gateway in the 2011 CC) you need the latest version for the software to communicate with the module.

Hi All,

I'm looking at getting a genuine VCDS cable from Ross Tech and just want to know whether the Micro-can version (cheaper option) is suitable or if the more expensive HEx-can interface lead is required to do the reprogramming.

Hi Hartry

Am really keen to have pretty much the same options on my cc as you have setup. Am still awaiting delivery - build date 23rd May so anticipate 1-3 weeks from then.

As I understand it from going throught the thread - VW dealers won't do it for you. Seems really strange that the options are present on the car - and that the driver does not have any way of 'playing with the options' - similar to what I can currently do on my 5 series!

As I understand it therefore I can either purchase the cable/software and do it myself - worried about this as I haven't done this before and don't want to mess anything up. My other option is to get someone else to do it. Where can people go for this - on the basis that dealers aren't interested? I know you have offered on hear to help - but I don't like imposing! That said - I am local i.e. Tamworth / Lichfield.

Hi there

You mentioned a few weeks back you might be able to help re the settings for my cc (for a small fee of course). As posted earlier I would be interested in similar settings to what you have (any others found?). My car is finally due to arrive next Friday (17th June). Are you still on for helping? Am based near Lichfield - or am more than happy to come to you.

Are you able to 'private message' me. I have tried but as I have less than 10 posts - the powers that be won't allow it!!

Look forward to hearing from you.

Coming home start at ign off
CE byte 12 bit 0 to 0
coming home via light sensor
CE byte 12 bit 2 to 0
coming home on
CE byte 17 bit 5 to 1
leaving home on
CE byte 17 bit 6 to 1

Auto close on rain
RLS byte 0 bit 2 to 1
CC byte 9 bit 1 to 1
CC byte 9 bit 2 to 0

Chirp on lock/unlock
CC byte 10 bit 3 to 1
CC byte 11 bit 3 to 1

Hazard on Emergency Braking
CE byte 16 bit 2 to 1

Instruments ROW
Ins byte 0 bits 4 through 7 to hex 10

------

CE = central electrics module
CC = central convenience module
Ins = instruments module

If you don’t do that you will have to manually count the bytes and bits which can get confusing

;)
Hi
Hope you can assist-I managed to borrow Vagcom/VCDS and cable for my last 2009 B6 Passat and did some of the changes you have mentioned (also determining my rear screen aerial WAS faulty which the local dealer had denied) and because my most helpful and non charging dealer is 100 miles away. Thing is I have luckily picked up a 2011 Passat cc 170 and really wanted the beep/chirp/flash activating as it does not appear as an option using the setup through the mfd (as my owners manual shows) Guy I borrowed cable from has flogged his car and therefore cable, and twice the supplying VW dealer has tried to set this function and the adaptation has failed?? and have therefore been told it cannot be done. From memory with vagcom 908 it used to be changing the option from 1 to 3 or vice versa to give flash/beep. So obviously you have managed this so is the dealer cocking this up or can there be another reason.
Also does the passenger mirror tilt in reverse function only become available if the over the top 12 function memory seat upgrade has been fitted (which mine has not) to the car or is this function there just waiting to be coded?
Any help would be appreciated

hartry

Might be because you have to do it in the long coding not the adaptation channels, and the dealer equipment is not the same as VCDS, not sure if they even can change the long coding - unless your dealer happens to actually have VCDS too, in which case I would say that yes, they are screwing up. Once it's enabled the option appears on the MFD.

Thanks for prompt reply
Can you specify exactly which module and setting i need changing, should i be able to find out who bought his cable, and is it still a setting for each ie unlock and lock or does one change do both?
Also any thoughts on the tilt in reverse function?
Cheers

hartry

Tilt in reverse ain't gonna work unless you've got memory seats, in which case you should already have it.

There are two separate settings, to add chirp on unlock set bit 3 in byte 10 of Central Convenience long coding to 1 and for chirp on lock, set bit 3 in byte 11 of Central Convenience long coding to 1.

Just remembered that you control whether the ATA confirm menu item is present or not separately, to add the menu item to your MFD, set Central Convenience long coding byte 10 bit 7 to 0.

However once they ATA confirm menu item is present, the option in the MFD only disables the lock chirp, the unlock chirp still happens even when 'ATA Confirm' is turned off in the MFD.

If you get hold of a VCDS cable, unless you get the very latest version of the software you will make life easier by downloading the label files I provided way up near the top of this thread, into your labels\user directory of your VCDS installation.

Hi
Car is June 2011 CC 170 - guy at work tried to change to beep on locking in module and options show for 2 seconds then error flashes up and you are unable to save changes just as dealer told me any ideas?
Strike that
Borrowed the cable overnight and have found that the setting cannot be changed in adaptation as when I eventually managed to navigate to through "Coding"-long coding to 1F-Byte10 there is also an option at the bottom -bit7 "horn confirmation configuration blocked" which was ticked. This was blocking any changes in "Coding" for horn on un/locking until unticked.

Hiya,
Just bought a 140 2008 cc. It has 'leaving home' lights option but the coming home lights don't work even though I can switch it on in the mfd, the dealer says it isn't included even though it's on the mfd as an option to turn on and alter the time it's on for! Seems rather odd to me. I assume I'm using it correctly as in lock/unlock with the remote?
Are any of the 2010 onwards options/settings mentioned within this thread likely to work on my car and is there anyone in the north west who has the time, equipment and patience to help?
Cheers
Chris

Doesn't give much confidence.
Be nice if I could get it to work like your set up.
Are these codes able to work on a 2008 model?
Thanks again

I believe so, but to be honest I'm not really sure. If you find someone with VCDS and plug it into your car, have a look at the bits and bytes which have been referred to in this thread - if the setup is the same, they will be labelled as such.

sorry to resurrect this old thread but I've just completed a scan and it's thrown up a couple of errors.

The immobilisers one is related to the key which has given me a low battery warning so that explains that. However, The error code for the media system is what confuses me ...

can anyone tell me what the coding should be?

A printout of the scan is given below

Greg, did you clear the codes and do a new scan, and did it come back?

No, I've not done that yet. do you think it may have been a one-off glitch? Will try it when I get home later.

This is the first time I've used VCDS :)

Yeah it's always worth clearing the fault codes after making a note/export of them to see if they return... my CC lease has now come to an end and I await a new CC for delivery on the 1st!

Don't think there can possibly be much more advice available than what I posted in this thread a couple of years ago. The things I changed that I think made the most difference to my experience with the car were probably (not in any order); teardrop wipe, 4 comfort blinks, heated seat setting memory for driver, DRLs, disable highway light, dials to ROW to enable big speed readout, cornering light on with reverse, windows up without holding remote button until closed, siren blip on successful anti theft alarm set, and also correction to the MPG readout having worked out the correct MPG manually (I had to set mine to 106%).

This is for UK but I think it will work for you guys too, you need to change the coding for the cluster to rest of world (ROW), then you go into the settings on the MFD, first of all disable alternative speed display, then go into MFD data and enable big speed or whatever its called. I think that since your base speed unit is set to kph that the big speed readout will also show kph!

Actually think in vcds the cluster is referred to as instruments. couldn't say at the moment as Im between VWs (roll on Friday, new CC - yes!!)

In MFD options I think if you change units the big display will change, but it'll change everything else too.

Tried this too with the same results, showing MPH instead of Kmh. Tried to change to Kmh but it's not possible. Pity.

Hi

My ACC is not working on the 4th and 5th gear, writes Select Gear. There are no errors, the engine CDA and manual.

Dear "simonsheil" could you make a log adaption channels so I can compare with yours.

Thanks.
