Hi all,

Audi A4 Avant '04 plate - The window's gone down, but won't go back up. Sort of wish it happened the other way round :(

It now just crunches, so it's fairly obviously that the mechanism needs replacing.

I have searched on here but really can't seem to find a 'how to' thread for this model, I have found one for the Passat here:

Can anyone advise if this should suffice? The parts in this guide look the same as the system available on Ebay for the A4:

I have already repaired the regulator on a MK IV Golf which also has a very similar if not identical system to this.

Any urgent help is GREATLY appreciated, and anyone who can stop it raining in Berkshire for the next 48hours will also be on my Christmas Card list!

Regards

Joe

i had the same problem on my 02 avant. The window has come off its rollers, and its not bolted to the roller , rather it is glued. I had to use some windscreen bonding adhesive to glue the glass back on to the rollers. Hope that helps.

I have recently done my driver door window regulator.
There is a "how to" over on audizine i think, I have the link on my laptop.
I brought the complete regulator from Audi rather then mess about trying to wind a new cable around the motor.
It took around 2hrs to change, lots of coffee breaks taken though.

Hi i did one on a A6 a couple of weeks ago and got the window regulator from eurocarparts.com for about £40 once i removed the door trim i managed to work out how it was fitted but if it is rivetted in make sure you have the right size rivets to complete the job (not sure if they are on a A4).

Just finished this 30mins ago, no rivets which was good as I had no spare!

took 3.5 hours however I did spend an hour fighting with the new regulator as i let the wheel pop out so had to work out how to re-wire it if you like.

Total cost was £17.99 off ebay so a darn sight cheaper than the main dealer I'm guessing.

Thanks for all help and advice on this chaps. :beerchug:
