Hi i don't know if this has been covered before but as i'm fairly new to this site here goes. When i am driving at 40-50mph without pressing brake pedal there is a noise like a squeaking sound, some cars make the noise under braking but this is like the reverse when i push down pedal it stops! Any ideas welcomed, i guess a brake check is in order, being a mere chef and no where near mechanically minded is it something i myself could deal with?
Cheers

I have the same problem. I think in my case it is down to the rear wheel bearings being on their way out which is allowing the brake pads to rub on the disk a bit when I'm driving.

Have you got a faint rumbling noise at all?

More proof of a loose wheel bearing would be that the noise is cornering-related.

Thanks chaps, wheel bearings? i had not thought of that. Could be i guess, would it be that if going straight, along a road? It tends to stop when turning, suppose i'll have to call my mechanic!:(
