Hi firstly would like to say what an amazing job you guys are doing here im new to forums but hey thumbs up from me!!!:beerchug:

Right ive recently bought a seat alhambra stylance 2.0 tdi 2007 57.

Its my pride and joy but recently has developed a annoying fault. it runs fine for a few hours and the the fuel pump cuts out and the traction control light comes on the dash (amber triangle with arrow going around it).If the ignition is left in the on position the radiator fan also kicks in. And then after 3-4 hours it will start again as if there is nothing wrong........

Ive taken it into the main ******** and they diagnosed it as "live feed to the fuel pump relay faulty" wire replaced and £270 later the fault returns 3 days later:zx11:

Ive taken it back to them and they said they have e-mailed seat uk for tecnical help as they cant find a fault?.... any help on here?

Does the traction control light still come on and the fan still start running?

Yes the light stays on and the fan starts running but after a few hours when the car starts the light goes out and the fan goes back to normal.....

In that case I feel there must be codes stored on the engine ECU, we need to see these to help further.

Is it worth buying a cheap code reader off ebay? i seen 1 around £40:confused:

A lot of the codes those things give are rubbish from what I have been given on here but I have never used one.

from memory, you're correct in the main - something like the UIFtech U281 is 'ok' for a budget scanner - it provides proper fault codes, instead of those generic OBD codes a lot of the cheaper ones provide

There's the KKL cable route, but for £40, you'd be limited with it's use.
