Is it normal wires into the back of your current switches? Don't think it's possible, do you mean you have the dual zone jobby from the 07 plate? There's sensors everywhere to monitor temperatures? Really not sure though, I would have said no?

I agree with Tom. I think it will not be possible to switch from air con to dual climate that easy.

With dual climate you have a host of sensors in the car.

Sorry :(

Yeah, lots of sensors and flappy bits behind the dash to control the temps.

Try it man, it may not work on Automatic? Seen as you have it may aswell try it? Do you have Vagcom? Might need to enable or clear faults.

It's cool, it's a diagnotic tool which allows you to plug the car into your laptop and you are able to clear faults, enable features etc..

It is possible to swap from a climatic (the basic one) to a dual zone automatic but it involves quite a lot of money and an exceptional amount of work.
There's a speeded up video of someone doing it on youtube - worth watching for comic value.

Take it back and get a refund

Is it worth researching to see if the new unit will fit:

I don't think they are climatic controls, think the are just the basic aircon/heater controls though.

Got my car serviced a few months ago, requested a courtesy car but they forgot. I ended up with the head of the service dept's 10 plate Passat with these new controls. It was only an S model as is my 58 plate.

I was thinking that they are essentially the same part, have the same functions, ie, a/c, rear screen heater and re-circulate buttons and the heater controls. As the centre console is the same, I'd image, different radio layout but probably the same harness.

You could probably change the old heater controls, non-climatic, with the new ones, non-climatic.

I have an old centre console that is up for sale if anyone wants to buy it and butcher it to try? :)
