The photo's are a true representation - the leather is white with a hint a cream.

EDIT - Just been out for a blast and they are a little more cream than white. I have to say it is a beautiful car to drive, and the looks you get are priceless. More and more impressed with my choice as the time passes, (says on day two) lol...

When you consider what you get for your money it must be one of the best kept secrets on the road (used to be),every man & his dog has either a 3 series BMW,Audi A4 or Merc C class which cost a lot more but you see them everywhere.I'm not saying they're any better or worse than the CC but it's nice to have something different, and something different which doesn't mean more expensive.

My work car has to be ordered through the lease company so has to be new .... on that basis, the A6 is waaaaaaaay over my budget. The lease figures they quote arent based on price alone, they also factor in residual costs, servicing etc.

I was referring more to the private buyer as far as purchase price goes. So, what do you get for £200 a month more - very little, a better sat nav, slightly bigger car, multi adjustable seats, and the badge. Can't think of much else.

I had a Passat B6 new in 2005, then had an Audi A6 2.0 TDI SLine in 2008. The Passat was a 22k car, the Audi a 30k car. Where the extra 8k went I really don't know - the biggest disappointment ever as I was expecting a lot more from the Audi. There wasn't anything wrong with it, but for 8k more maybe I was just expecting more. Now have a 2010 B6 which I had new last year.

No doubting though that the CC is a cracking car.

CC170GT, cheers for the pics. does your car have the keyless system?

I think the question about the silver button was aimed at rmccardal .... if you see the first pic he posted, you can just see part of the button in question (bottor right of gear surround). the button is not there on the pics of your car. is this the engine ignition on/off/start buton (in the car with keyless system) rather than the start/stop 'bluemotion' tech?? :beerchug:

1st week road test report. Still well impressed having covered just under 1000 silky smooth miles. 570miles ish to a tank and not going particularly steady either! Startled more than a few outside lane campers with my closing speed..
The suspension setting appears to stiffen up the stearing too when in sport mode.
RNS315 Radio and Media operation very good. Can't figure how to enter postcodes into the satnav but entering the names works just fine. Can't control the phone options through the steering wheel controls but everything works ok from the head unit.
The start/stop works well but won't hold indeffinately - after a few minutes the engine restarts by itself (must work with the recouperation - if you sit with the lights, heater, radio etc on it must use up the reserve power and need to restart the engine).
The downside - It's lost its new car sheen :( - its effin filthy......

I don't think there is a fault - none of the phone options or details appear on the display between the speedo and rev counter, the only control that works is the answer / hangup button on the steering wheel.
Maybe i'm missing something but i don't think so.

I had a CC on loan for a while and to use the phone functions from the steering wheel, you need to sync your phone contact list ... that way it has all the numbers stored on the head unit. I cant recall how but its an option in the nav display on the steering console. You can only set it up when stationary too ;)

I see from your pics you spent a little extra on the RNS510 stereo unit which is probably why yours is working as expected. Mine is the standard RNS315 which no matter what I try still shows nothing on the MFD. I did find a setting in the setup menu which 'uploads the phonebook' but still nothing. Maybe it does only work on the head unit.

Nope - its a blackberry and shows all the bluetooth settings are active sound, voice remote control settings etc. The MFD shows all of the above but no phone.

Edit - Tried an HTC HD2 also - no dice.

Right picked my car up today and a few first thoughts, pictures to follow. (I am typing this in the dark as power is off so apologies for any typos)

The car is a CC GT 170 tdi manual.
Colour: Moonlight blue
Wheels: Chicago
Options: Park Assist, xenons, Automatic distance control, Lane assist, digital tyre pressure monitoring, climates seats, sunblind, MDI, ambent lighting pack and badge deletion.

First thoughts on the car, it is very smooth and very quiet. Personaly I have had the suspension in automatic, comfort is a bit bouncy for back roads. Steering is nicely weighted but little feed back from the car, general seaing postion I find good although feels slightly high with seat on lowest seting. Leather is however lovely quality.
The automatic hold is brilliant, a gadget that just works, and the start stop seems to function fine.

As has been stated their is no phone menu in the MFD. I have done a bit of research and its either the RNS 315 not be compatible with the instrument cluster (apparently this system used a revised output) or a coding issue. Unfortunalty VCDS does not have long coder help for the convience unit, stereo or instrumen cluster so theres a bit of wrok geting to the bottom of it.

Also as stated the MFD has an alternitive speed displaye in km/h. To disable this you have to change the coding on the instrument cluster to rest of the world and you gain a large digital speedo in the MFD if wanted.

SAT NAV ssems to work fine, although still only 5 digit post code entry, its preloaded and I was not supplied with a disc. Cant see if there is any way of searching for fuel station en route as of yet.

The coulour (mmonlight blue) is a very dark blue and in non direct light looks black, however under light is a nice blue, downside as with all dark cars is its filthy after 10 minutes.

The chcago alloys I think look really good. These are shown on this colour car as the exclusive model in Europe and they do really suit it. The added benefit is a black inside means brakedust wont show up much.

Park assist I have not touched yet.

Xenons are brilliant, cornering function is excellant and suplemted by the static cornering lights at low speed. Very wierd dance at start up.

ADC, I have had a couple of plays with this today and it works very well although is maybe a touch agreesive on the breaks. In addition the way it work means if it is breaking and you also break the force already applied is maintained and any pedal prussre additional meaning sharper breaking than intended. It stays enagegd when changing gear.

Lane Assist, again tried a couple of times. Perhaps unsurpisingly it works better in the day than at night in picking up the lines although all round here are preety filthy with all the salt down. Pulls back across really well from the line. I will use it but just on dual carrigeway/motorway.

Digital tyre pressure gives an extra screen in MFD with live pressures for each wheel.

Climate seats seem to have a fair bit of airflow, wait till summer for a proper test.

Sunblind is a gadget but works ok.

MDI, not tried yet.

Ambient lighting. Its in all 4 doors, not just the front as per the manual. Not massivley bright but add a nice glow and the footwell lights are a nice touch.

Any questions feel free to ask, however, my fist impressions are very good, only things I would change is a lower seat and phone on the MFD.

Right, made some progress with the phone/mfs/rn315 issue.

It seems the RNS315 bluetooth will not talk to the MFD hence no phone menu.

In the US they avoid this probelm on the jetta by disabling the built in RNS315 bluetooth and fitting the 9w7 bluetooth kit. This then links through the RNS315 and has MFD menu.

Looks like this should work for the passat, but then its a question of the 9W7 or 9WZ (which has RaSP and hence reads texts) however needs an extra antenna.

I'm surprised at this. I test drove a CC in November fitted with the RNS310 and the phone worked through the MFD (and the manual for the 310 covered the 315 as well). I'll be pretty peed off of the MFD function is not supported on the RNS315.

well, the pre-2011 car I had was fitted with an RNS310 and it worked on that. You could scroll through the contact list, received call etc and make an outgoing call via the MFD. I'd be surprised if that's longer the case.

Sorry to have kick started more disappointment but it really isn't that bad! All the phone selections can be made on the head unit using the centre rotary dial, which is arguably easier than pressing lots of different buttons on the steering wheel. My comments were not a complaint just an observation.

All I can say is that that looks really naff. All the pics I've seen to date have had the same centre console as on the B6's which have got a sliding cover. If this becomes the standard, it's another reason that I'll be peed off. The sliding cover keeps everything looking neat and tidy (and keeps things out of view from prying eyes.

This looks like a retrograde cost cutting exercise if it is now standard fit.

This is like the centre console fitted to the S trim B6 from launch and standard across the pond where lots of B6 owners swapped it for the sliding lid topped style. There are how to posts on www.vwvortex.com .

I agree, its naff.

A mistake at the factory? My guess is that it went something like this:

“Supply chain and material planning have screwed up again – were going to have to halt production”
“Nah – just fit these instead. The Brits never complain – we should get away with it”

Well done cc170gt for complaining. It could be that yours really was a one off mistake but I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s more CC’s out there with the wrong console.

Well it was due to be delivered to me tomorrow. Found out at the start of this week that was never going to happen due to document delays between VW, the lease company and us (as if they didn't have enough time to get that sorted??). Now I find out that due to the lease co. needing to see the original copies of the guarantor's passport and driving license, coupled with the fact that the guarantor is currently in Switzerland, it's not coming until at least a week Monday. And to think it's sat in VW Stockport just waiting for some scally to come and steal my Daytona wheels :(

I went down earlier and couldnt see it in the carparks around the stockport show room ..... not to be put off, I went in to the show room and asked one of the staff .... how some sales people can be so rude to a potential custome is beyond me. Anyway, I talked my way into being shown all the cars on their secure parking lot .... all I can say is, BLIMEY, they have about 25 2011 spec CC's on there, only a few of which have been registered!!

I found your car paked in amongst a load of other CCs. No way it could be taken for a spin today, the salesman didnt even bring the keys with him. Because it was soooo surrounded, the only side that was clear was the drivers side (BTW, the car infront of yours is parked very close but it's not touching, I checked!)

Good, 'cos I was starting to wonder if maybe the arches look a bit empty with the Daytonas - but I think it's more the gap between the arch and the tyre that looks a bit big, maybe the Daytona accentuate this? Either way, don't worry I won't be lowering like the boys on vwvortex!

Looking at the photo again maybe the fact the sidewalls are in the sun whilst the treads are in the shade makes it look worse?

Don't know what transit blocks are but guessing at something that locks the suspension during transportation? Who knows? It does look like mine's in a more advanced stage of pre-delivery than the others 'cos they all have loads of white plastic stuck to the upper bodywork, but obviously mine's not complete yet because of the sticker on the wheel. Drifty

If its the same as my Golf, the button is used to set the pressure (is after you have checked the pressures) then if the pressures drop, you'll get a warning on the computer.

hartry
30-01-2011, 04:14 AM
pressing the button makes the system think 'current pressure is ok', any differentiation from that will bring the dash warning

The rotation based system utilises the ABS sensor and measure the difference in rotation speeds between wheels.

If you have a flat the wheel squashes more and increases the rolling radius, hence one wheel rotates more than the other.

Drifty
30-01-2011, 01:57 PM
Also as stated the MFD has an alternitive speed displaye in km/h. To disable this you have to change the coding on the instrument cluster to rest of the world and you gain a large digital speedo in the MFD if wanted.

Hi Simon

My 2010 140 TDI CC GT should have had the rotation based system but arrived with the digital system and a set button. The handbook confirms this as a correct set up. Digital without set button is a North American market legal requirement and is also covered in my handbook.

The digital system is bad news in some ways:-

1. Sensors have a 60k life. Replacements cost about £75 + VAT each. I know 'cos I asked as I was thinking of fitting a set to my winter tyre wheels.

2. The sensors are often made of steel not brass so may fuse with the alloy wheel for the same reasons an alloy wheel can get stuck to a steel hub without a bit of copper grease between.

There are two options for detecting a puncture, direct monitoring of the tyre pressue utilising a sender in each wheel and a digital read out in the MFD. This has no requirement for a set button. Known as the electronic tyre pressure monitoring.

The other option is a rotation system utilising the ABS sensor and requiring a set button. It is a system VAG have used for a few years now and seems to be ok, however, people have lost 1 bar from a tyre before it detected. Its standard on the CC as the tyre prssure monitor.

I'm sure the sensor life is limited, although according to other sources 8 year life. As you rightly say this system is compulsory in america and an option on european cars.

I was going to use some fishing braid and a hair dryer, need to get some heat into them first but one of the blokes in the prep shop knew how to do it.Heat gun,not too hot i assume, and apparently they'll peel off quite easily.

I'm very impressed with the CC,forgotten about the phone in MFD,interior plastics and trim are even more "touchy feely" than my TT. RNS315 is great the extra switch in the middle means you don't have to keep prodding the touchscreen all the time.Electric/memory seats are great, infinitely adjustable especially the angle of the seat base.New location of MDI in glovebox means there's plenty of room in the central armrest to put things, door pockets are a bit small.Rear view is fine and parking sensors are very handy.Having a bit of trouble getting used to the electric handbrake but read the manual and seem to be getting used to it.

Scooby, glad your enjoying it. The wait for me is getting unbearable!

Regarding the elec handbrake, when I had a passat releif car, I found the handbrake very intuitive. The only thing that caught me out was that the brake wont automatically engage when you turn off the ignition unless you have your seabelt done up. I've moved the car, without seatbelt engaged, then switched off the ignition, expecting the brake to engage as normal and then it starts to roll away as your getting out!

Edging closer...was hoping it was on the boat by now, maybe Paul's boat was waiting for mine so they can be delivered as a pair..... Getting there tho....

Hi Rob
I am pleased to say your vehicle is built and is now at port of exit in Emden waiting for shipment to the UK, so we are still on schedule for early April.
I'll let you know about that front grille badge as soon as I know - but all indications are pointing to non-removal at the moment.
No stickers are all ok ref our convo
Let you know as soon as the car arrives
Kind Regards
Gemma

@Scooby: Yes that's the one - I've only seen pictures of German ones with it and I noticed yours didn't have one, so it's likely to be a snap on type affair at best - I don't think it'll be an issue.

@Cullinp: This could be your baby en route (see link below) Left Emden yesterday and on way to Grimsby. I've been looking at the other forums around the shipping and the boats used...

On marine traffic you can zoom on on a satellite view to look at the port at Grimsby (albeit not live sat feed;)... now THAT would be cool)

Anyhoo, it's amazing the amount of car parks for storing cars as they roll off - there must be 1000's around the docks...

Hi Dave

Yes it's Bluemotion - I did ask the dealer to ensure there were no badges and she wasn't 100% sure whether uk BMT CC's had grille badges - but I can see on the German VW site, their's do.

Other guys on the cc forum who had BMT engines also didn't get grille badges.

So all good ;)

No stop/start button without keyless entry. You do get a button on the left of the gearstick to switch off the stop/start system that's part of the bluemotion tech.

Yup, very happy, only been as far as the petrol station and back to fill up, but I was shocked by the amount of looks I got - maybe big white (clean) car on a sunny day??? but when i was queueing to pay there were lot of people looking around it too as they walked past.

I'm planning on some cruising later today tho!.. As per my post above, the only slight dampner was the missing ipod cable for the MDI - but hopefully the replacement will me with me by the weekend.

A question though - in the glove compartment, at the back toward the right hand side, there are some small black plastic clips do you know what they are for?

I got two with my car, a USB one and an Ipod one. If you do have the USB one, you can simply connect your white ipod charger/sync cable into that and use the ipod that way :) .. it should still work the same.

Hi guys, it's been a bit of a hectic day so apologies for the poor photos. I'll get some more in the daylight tomorrow.

Chuffed with the car, mine is a 140 GT with no additional spec.....that said the standard spec is something else. The car is lovely to drive, smooth, quiet, plenty of go when you want, it in all gears.

RNS315 is great, Nav is excellent and displays in the MFD also. Phone is fine with both my work BBerry and my personal Iphone4 synced. It doesn't have MDI but I've been streaming my tunes via Bluetooth which is really easy and the quality is excellent.

It's over 6 months since I sat in a CC and I have to say I'd forgotten how nice the finish on the car is. Everything oozes quality and it really was worth waiting for.

Looking for to the next 24months with my Candy.

Happy to answer any specific questions anyone still waiting has.

So today was my first proper drive - Stevenage to Watford (about 30miles) using a mixture of lane, B & A Roads and Motorway.

Overall - very happy, took me a while to get used to the feel of the car as it's so tight when compared to the 4 yr old GTI, but i know that will loosen up in time.

Very quiet and I loved the voice control for switching radio station presets as I channel hopped from Radio 1 to Talksport. RNS510 traffic info was good - I didn't plot my route as I know it so well - So even without using the SatNav, it chipped in a few times telling me of traffic problems ahead.

Seating position took some adjusting to get into the most comfortable position, now it's great.

The compass direction on the MFD had be confused for half the trip - I though I had the DSG in sport mode - but it was only saying S for South.:Blush2:

Bluetooth connection was easy to set up and music streaming from the iPhone (while I await my MDI cable) worked very well too.

Auto hold - love it, but I think it'll take me a while to trust it as it feels a little unnatural. (witch craft!!!)

Auto Start/Stop - I'd forgotten about this, so it first kicked in when I stopped in traffic on the A1(M). I must admit a little panic for a second as I registered what it was doing - but I got used to it pretty quickly. Also - if you release the brake as soon as you have stopped, you can avoid it kicking in - handy when you don't want to manually switch it off, but need to be able to get away quick on a roundabout.

Climate seats - Mmmmmmmmm very nice and the perfect weather today to enjoy them.

Fuel Economy - not great I think it was circa 42mpg, but again, it's a new engine so I'm sure it'll improve in time. The route only has 1 straight stretch on the A1(M), the rest is roundabouts, speed bumps etc.

Lots of admiring looks so I was grinning the whole time.

I've not tried the parking assist (if Auto hold is witch craft, this is even darker black magic!!) so I'm waiting for a quiet day with a few cars parked in my street to practice before I use that in public! The kids favourite bit of the car is the rear camera

I am definitely going to look to change my DRL bulbs for something whiter - they are almost golden in colour against the white body and bluey/white Xenon - I'll post more on that as and when i do it on the other DRL thread.

Today, I've arrived home with birdsh*t on the rear window, bugs on the front and a few dirty water marks behind the rear wheels ... but now all cleaned off ;)

So in a nutshell, love it love it love it. :beerchug::beerchug::beerchug:
I'm sure more ramblings to follow... thanks for reading!

Pity it's in the glovebox now as while it works with the iPhone (including charging) as it's not that convenient to reach over, fit it, etc on every trip. Certainly would have preferred something in the armrest.

Brandon Hall's nice enough and I've been to quite a few Black Tie do's at the Hilton by the M6, I remember once when I was probably 18 or 19 at a do with my parents and girlfriend, the two of us paid a visit to the disabled toilet together and they have what can be described as an additional light pull string but in orange which is the assistance alarm, needless to say it got accidentally pulled and the hotel staff came running. Funny now but horrific at the time ;)

Hi - new to the forum but have read with interest - in particular re the build delays. I ordered my cc in Feb and was told to expect a possible 6-8 month wait. Having viewed the forum I had noted things seemed to have got a little better. I have now had a build date of week commencing 23rd May - with expectation of delivery in June - hope this fits.

Have ordered a 170 GT tdi DSG in Island Grey, Truffle. Have also gone for the St Louis wheels and upgraded to the RNS 510 sat nav / audio, folding mirrors and MDI.

Am coming out of a BMW 5 series (via private lease). Was looking at another 5 series or the new Audi A6 - but the monthly costs are ridiculous. Lease on the cc is better and insurance / running costs also way better.

Wife had a new Golf 12 months ago and during a visit to the dealership at end of last year we noticed the cc. Looks a great car, drove well on the test drive and is well kitted out. Also not many on the road which is good!

One technical question (if this is the place to ask) is re bluetooth and compatible phones. My wife had a real issue with her Golf and had to ensure her new mobile was rsap compatible. From what I have read on the CC this seems to use a different system i.e. phones must be 'hands free profile' compatible'. I use a blackberry curve - soon to be upgraded to either a blackberry Torch or Bold. From what I can see on the specs of these phones they seem ok - but was wondering if anyone has had any experience on this?

Apologies for going on - any comments welcome.

Any bluetooth phone will work with the bluetooth that comes with the rns315 satnav but since you went for the 510 you'll need rsap but in any case as far as i know, all the backberry devices do rsap so it's all good (all the ones i've tried do anyway, not sure about torch).

Thanks Hartry

Good news re Blackberry (I think) assuming it is rsap!! Presume if it is I get full functionality??

Little bit disappointed that upgrading to higher spec system causes a possible issue - not something made clear in the 2011 brochure. This clearly states on the standard spec (as a seperate entry to the 315 RNS system) that the car has bluetooth - for HFP (Handsfree Profile) compatible. There is no reference at all to any impact on bluetooth where the details on the RNS510 system is described.

Here's hoping!

Yeah sorry I was wrong. The rns510 does still have a separate bluetooth module but it no longer needs an rsap phone (it used to). RSAP is brilliant however if you have a phone that supports it, and I'm not sure if the new bluetooth they install is both rsap and hfp compatible depending on what phone you connect to it, or if it uses hfp all the time like the crap bluetooth you get with the 315.

Ours were due to be built last week (week15) although lease company did say dealer was not expecting them until middle of May, judging by some of the comments hopefully this will improve.

Not had any confirmation yet that they were actually built. We have 2 on order as company cars and they were ordered at same time. One in Island Grey with black trim (mine) and the other in Autumn Brown with the 2 tone trim, both with Park assist and MDI cables.

Reading back a page or two it sounds like a few of us had the same build weeks so next month should see lots of deliveries (I hope!) We ordered middle of September last year.

As I do a fair few motorway miles mainly in Northern England I have been scoring each journey for the number of CC's I see, so far the best (or worst for exclusivity) has been a 6 day!

Mine was week 15. When i called my lease company last Friday they said it has been built and its now just a case of it being shipped to the dealer.

Going by others experience I am hoping to get the car around the end of the month. Fingers crossed!

Well, despite my car being built almost two weeks ago (week 15) i just phones vwcs and they tell me it is still in emden, but has cleared everything and should be sailing over the next week.

Delivery estimated to be 2-3 weeks. :zx11:

This is bloody agony!

only you guys and stories of how good it is has kept me going - any updates from you guys who have taken delivery lately? :biglaugh:

All quiet on the CC front? Everyone who was desperate for one must've received it!

I noticed the other day, if you get in put the clutch down and just whack the key straight down and release it, the car waits for the diesel coils to heat up then starts when it wants to, not when you want it to.. another cool feature.

My minight blue pearl paint looks so good now it's clean and the sun is shining :D

Just heard from the lease company that ours are in the country and on route to the dealer. Only delay is registrations and leasing paperwork etc, been told to expect it sometime next week - hopefully!

Build week 15
ordered Sept 2010.

P.S.Can someone help with information about the MFD unit on the CC GT. I read somewhere on the forum that there is a digital speedometer but that it is displayed in Kmh instead of mph, apparently it can only be altered by a dealer. Is this the case and if so should I ask the dealer to do this before delivery?

Well, all quiet, but not in a good way!

Build week 15 ordered in Spetember here too, but was told on Thursday it was at the docks waiting shipping - Hopefully it was on the same boat as skyliners. Was told i should have it in about 2 weeks from now - hopefully they will go a bit quicker. I did about 250 miles in my little ford ka at the weekend and every step of the way i was hating it!

Dealer won't alter that for you as it's a legal requirement but find someone friendly with VCDS and it's easy to change (code instruments to rest of the world).

Thanks Hartry

Legal requirement eh - someone should tell them we don't use kmh in England! On my loan Insignia it displays in mph on the MFD and I must admit I'm hooked on using it rather than the analogue scale.

The Sat Nav system in the Insignia is also really good with lane assist and full postcodes. I understand neither of these are possible in the CC (RNS315)?

All in all the Insignia has been fun for the last 3 months and in some respects I will be sad to see it go, but hopefully the CC will help put a smile back on my face!
