Hi, bought a Seat Cordoba 1.4 TDI 100BHP(74kW) from a seat dealership...

Then a while checking out the car i noticed in the spare wheel well the sticker that states the cars spec says its a cordoba 1.4TDI sport 55, which according to the user manual means it's a 1.4 TDI 75BHP(55kW)...

Have i been ripped off by the dealership? If so have i any comeback after paying 16 grand?

Cheers

Ring Seat direct and give them your VIN number and engine code, they'll tell you what model ect it is for sure.

are you still in your "cooling off" period?

firstly, you need factual proof that the car is not the power as described. this involves 2 steps. contact Seat directly, provide them with your VIN number and ask them for the power/model details.

secondly, check this against the car order sheet or equivalent paper work you got from the dealer. if the two differ and not in your favour, go back and scream trades description. the dealer will have no choice but to give you a full refund or offer a partial refund in reflection of the decrease in spec and value.

which path you then choose is your own choice :beerchug:

too right..

As above... check the paper work which you have got and if you still have a copy of the advert that will help you..

In theory.. they have mis sold a product to you..

best option.. get onto Seat..

let us know how you get on.

Hi,
I don't believe there is a 1.4 TDI 100 BHP engine.
But there is a 1.9 TDI 100 BHP engine.
So something may not be right if you've been told it's a 1.4 TDI with 100 BHP.
Your case is stronger if this spec is in writing but you should nevertheless claim you have been missold.
If the spec is not as described I would suggest you initially contact the dealer and demand to return the car for a full refund (or negotiate some cash back if you are prepared to keep the car).
Stick to your guns, if they don't satisfy you next go to your local Trading Standards and they will take the matter further on your behalf.
And then there's always Money Claim Online where you can take a Company to Court without having left the comfort of your own home and it only gets to a Court hearing if they defend (and the Companies I have taken to Court this way all threw their towels in negating the need for a court hearing!).
Let us know how you go on!
Cheers,
Jonathan

Hi the vehicle logbook states the model as cordoba 1.4 TDI 100, but according to the service book and datasheet in the boot of the car it is the 1.4TDI 75...

Looks like a trip to the dealership is in order

ensure you get it in writing, and please tell me you have some sort of order sheet or advert from the dealer you bought it from, otherwise you will have no comeback im afraid :(

I have just looked in the Glasses Guide and a few other guides and a 1.4TDI is not listed..

1.4 PETROL is listed..

the only Diesel lumps are the 1.9 TDI

I think from the data i have found, first we need to find out if its a 1.4 petrol or a 1.9 TDI if there is only these engines...

i may be wrong, but i have not been able to fine anything regarding the 1.4TDI in the Cordoba,

One thing to note.... - The 1.4TDI is only 75 BHP anyway.. they dont make it as a 100BHP - as the 1.9TDI delivers that power. (other wise they would have a clash engine spec.

One other thing... In the Cordoba hatchback, ie Ibiza, they only have the 1.4 petrol and the 1.4 TDI 75 BHP...

Look across the VAG range and you wont find a ref to a 1.4 TDI 100-

Does the "100" form a part of a model number... like a special Edition maybe?
