Whistle, whoosh noise

Hi I hope this is in the right section my 2006 Golf+ 1.9 diesel 125,000 miles makes a whistle, whoosh noise when you release the accelerator pedal after a good rev or if you drive it hard. Has anyone any idea what this noise is? Before this I had a Seat Altea same engine that made the same noise but not as loud.

mine does it but only when its a little cold, it can sometimes be a sign the turbo is on its way out, but mine has been doing it for about 15,000 miles and it hasnt got any loader

If it’s the turbo on its way out what other symptoms should I be looking out for?

look for excessive smoke out the exhaust and listen for if the noise gets any louder

Could just be a boost leak, check all the joints for excessive oil leaking, and check all the clips are tight etc.
