1998 a4 b5 high emmisions fail mot

hi guys am new to this site after coming to a problem
with my a4 emmisions being really high
have been told loads of different things regarding
to what it could be
have been told faulty maf or map sensor /lambda sensor /cat?

here is my results from the test

its a 1600 se model

1st fast idle test



engine rpm 2450/2850 manual check not tested
limits actual values results
co % vol 0.30 0.85 fail
hc ppm vol 200 138 pass
lambda 0.97/1.03 0.99 pass


2nd fast idle test

co % vol 0.30 6.31 fail
hc ppm vol 200 357 fail
lambda 0.97/1.03 0.83 fail

natural idle test

co % vol 0.50 9.95 fail

overall results test failed

so this is the results can anyone point me in the right direction
to what it could be before i fork out a load of money
trying everything

If your air-filter is clean, you need to get a diagnostic
fault-read done, to point you in the right direction.
