Hi All,

Just joined the forum so please be gentle ;)
I currently own Rover 75 but will be changing it soon and was thinking about A4 as a replacement.
I have seen lots of adverts on Autotrader and I am really confused as it seems there are loads of different versions on the market.
My budget is around 5k. Is it ok for something decent or I should fork out more? Ideally I would like to keep the car for 3-4 years.

I would appreciate your suggestions! Thank you.

I think you would be hard pushed to get a B8 Audi A4 for 5k as they only came out in 2008. You may have to look at a B7 model (2005-2007). Depending on what you want the two 'basic' triml levels would be 'SE' and 'S-Line'.
Diesel's are more economical and cheaper on car tax due to emissions.
Petrol variants are 1.8, 1.8T, 2.0, 2.0T or 3.0
Diesel variants are 1.9, 2.0, 2.5 or 3.0
Others in the forum may be able to shed more info. Take a look in the 'B7' forum, there are plenty of helpful people there.

I think you are being very ambitous to get what you want for £5K to be honest as these cars hold their value very well.

I have an 07 plate A4 Avant 2.0 TDI which will be for sale next Feb/Mar if youre interested !

Owned by me from new, will probably have about 55K on it by then, but not for £5K sadly.

I think the 2.5 was actually a 2.7 in the B7 car as the 2.5 was dropped after B6.
