Has anyone had any problems with the fuel cap not releasing? Bit embarassing at the pumps when you have to lock the car, unlock it, lock it again etc. etc. and it still doesn't work. It's getting bloody annoying! :aargh4:

YES !!

I too looked like a right 'prat at the pump'. This really annoyed me for a few weeks, I thought there was something wrong with it but then I discovered that if you get out of the car and press the open button on the fob twice in quick succession it releases.

Give it a go, it works for me.

This is caused by an issue with the solenoid in the petrol cap -- it will eventually fail on you.

You should get a replacement under warranty as it is known problem.

Dunno about anyone else but I'm visiting the dealer later today anyway.....I'm picking up some parts and they've said they'll have a look at it and fix / order any parts required etc when I'm there :beerchug:

This has happened to me twice, very frustrating.....unlocked the car again and it worked.

In that case I'll have to book in it a the delears, (and add to the of problems for them to look at).

Called in to the dealers today and picked up my parts.....please see this thread....http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=111099

They checked out my fuel flap and yes they needed to order a solenoid....call back in a few days and they'll fix it:approve:
In the meantime they've lubricated the hell out of it and its working fine in the short term :beerchug:

Thanks guys. I'll try the fob idea first before enduring a visit to a dealer. With any luck, and also as a Scot, I'll get it for gratis the same as Jim!
Cheers.
