Just got an A6 avant 1999 & the rear seat cup holders have had so much juice spilt on them they've stopped working. Can anyone help on how to get them out so I can clean em!

Its listed in the service stuff I've got as being fixed under warranty!

Yee Ha! got cup holders out today, had to take seat out to get a better look as it was really starting to bug me! & it's quite simple aswell. Use a small screwdriver to remove surround & pull out holders (if you can)? you'll see a small rectangle slot in each top corner, push the screwdriver into these gently & you'll lift a small catch. you can then slowly pull out the complete holder.
Cleaned mine up & they were still sticking so had to strip em right down!!!
eventually got em working but that's another story.
Hope this helps... Let me know if anyone is having the sticking problem & I'll try to explain what I Done.

My rear cup holders are missing.....anyone know where I can get hold of some? Tried various breakers but no-one seems to have any!! I've found some on e-bay for about $130 delivered from Hong Kong, wasn't sure if that was a good deal or not?

An alternative way to loosen the cup holders would be to buy some spray isopropanol from Maplins.

Pressing a towel against the surrounding area to protect the upholstery, spray the isopropanol in & around the cup holder's fascia. The isopropanol will dissolve the sticky residue and then quickly evaporate away.

If that doesnt loosen the cup holders enough to release them, you'll have to take the unit apart as described by JpH

See how fascinated we all are with the lucky people with sticky accessories lol - 750+ views of this thread.

I dream of the day my ciggy lighter packs up ;-)

Our A6 suffers massive misfire in the damp/wet that no-one can explain (yep even Audi personnel) We have no heater as the matrix is cacked up and I had to bypass it to keep the LPG conversion working so we continue to get a sensible MPG. No rear wiper (we reverse 100 yards to get out of our place down a narrow path with zero lighting. Oh and the front washer bottle just stopped too...

But.

I will drive this car until one of us dies. This car is the best thing I have ever driven (55 next b'day and been driving since I was 15)

the washer bottle will be the little motor - easy enough to change. The rear wiper is probably an electrical connection - whip off the covering and have a look. Also check the fuse.

As for the misfire? I take it you have already gone down the route of HT leads etc...

Yeah, leads, distributor cap, relays, loom, all checked and/or replaced none the better.
In the dry (or when warmed up and turned off for 2 minutes) the car is a rocket.

The rear wiper blows fuses immediately and I can't see why but its not an MOT fail so we left it ;-)

I am having trouble finding out how to remove the washer bottle but will soldier on.

If the fuses pop straight away then it must be shorting out somewhere....

but can anyone please help me how to get the rear seat bench out? :Blush2:

On my 2003 saloon, you can't. It is fixed. Me and a bloke in the U.S. called Craig both needed to get the rear seat out and we both can't. I wanted to get the bench out to run the cable for a CD multichanger I was installing, in the end I just lifted the edges of the seat (on the verge of ripping!) and threaded it through. My owners manual says it can be done, but believe me as an ex-Toyota mechanic, therefore good with cars, the seat doesn't come out.

Ive never seen the cup holders ! Where are they?
In the rear seat bench, below middle seat. Push the compartment and they appear!

had the same problem, have managed to prise them out with a screw driver but they've just stuck again when I pushed them back in. Thinking of removing them altogether and fitting a dvd player in their space, linked to a screen fitted inside the rear armrest which will slide out on a bracket to keep the kids quiet lol
