Hi All

Got a 2001 passat tdi.

Over the past few days the indicators have started playing up.

At first on continous, after a few cycles they would suddenly go two clicks really fast the carry on.

Then after a few cycles stopped completly.

Now they only work if I manually push the stalk down for each flash.

I think the fuses are ok, hard to till in the light at the moment. Maybe it's some kind of relay that's ceased?

When they worked for a bit, all the indicators came on, the dash lights and click worked.

Any ideas?

p.s It could be down to the weather and moisture. Or just purely coincidental.

Thanks

Jon

Sounds like the relay, this is built into the hazard switch, so new switch required,

Try squirting wd40 around the base of the stalk where the contacts are. You may have to remove the steering column cowl to do this accurately. Metal filings from the contact metal mix with the grease used to lubricate the switch and form an erratic connection across the contacts. The wd40 should wash this grease away. I did mine back in the spring and it has been perfect since then, though it may take 2 or 3 goes to clear it completely.

Thanks for your help guys.

The hazards are the same, will try the wd40 trick first.
