After a short journey home last night as I was just home the belt at the front of the engine bay that runs the alternator and other different cams etc has shredded and snapped! :zx11: Can some one please confirm the name of this belt, and if it would be easy to do. Possibly links to another post with instructions on how to do it?

An urgent reply would be extreamly appreciated, as the only place i will be able to buy the belt from in closing in less than an hour!

The passat is a 1.9 TDI (90bhp)

Thankyou!

These belts last a long time.
Checkout the belt tensioner and the alternator pulley clutch

the belt is real easy to change, you will need to get a long handled rachet or socket to out on the tentioner, once the resure has been released the new belt can be slipped into place real easy,

if your planning to take the front off the car then you may as well do the cam belt too,

this may help, its for a golf instalation rather than the passat, but essentially the same, but rotated by 90 degrees in the engine bay.
