A4 1.9 TDi Auto gear jupms

Hi every one , I am new with Audi A4 1.9 TDi Automatic, very recently bought one X Reg with 146000 on the clock. Problem when drive, the gear straight away jumps between 1st /3rd/1st/. I hardly drove 18miles since boutght, freezing cold weather didn't allowed test drive before buying. Initially reverse gear wasn't workin until using drive then a couple of days later when took out for drive this problem forced me park back on the drive. Any one been throgh with same situation, please advise and share your experience, it will be really appreciated.
