I have a VW Passat S TDi. 1.9 First Registration 11/ 12/ 2003

When I remove key from Ignition and try to lock steering wheel, the wheel turns left or right but will not lock. When using key to activate central locking, the doors will not lock.
I tried to lock drivers door manually but key will not turn in lock.
However when inside car and then pressing the cenral locking button in the armrest of the drivers door, all door locks will close or open perfectly. The two keys I have appear to be working correctly( The batteries are new, fitted by a VW dealer)
Any help will be geatly appreciated

The door lock, if not used regularly, will seize-up.. don't force it,
cover the key with oil, even cooking oil or butter, and work it
in gently. If that doesn't work, the door card will have to come off.

If you think the lock is frozen, you can heat the key-blade (a little)
with a lighter and leave it in the lock for a few minutes.

The steering-lock-pin may have sized.

If the remotes are working, there may be dampness in the
ccm area
